Water polo is a team game played by two teams of up to 13 a side, only seven of whom may be in the water at the same time. The ball may be propelled one-handed, but not punched by any player other than the goalkeeper. Each team attempts to score by putting the ball into its opponent’s goal. |
Uniform dimensions are illustrated. The minimum depth for major competitions is 1.80m. All lines must be visible throughout the game. Suggested colours are: goal line and half-distance line, white; 2m line, red; 4m line, yellow. There must be sufficient room for the referees to walk along the edge of the pool. Goals must be painted white and fixed firmly. |
