Volleyball

Volleyball is a team game played by six players on each side. The object is to send a ball over a net and within the boundaries of a court so that the opposing team are unable to return it or prevent it from hitting the ground. Any part of the body may be used to propel the ball.

The court and the net

The court includes the boundary lines, and the ball must clear them completely to be ruled out of court. The attack lines extend indefinitely beyond the side lines.

The net is 1m deep and 9.50m long, made of 10cm-square mesh. Along the top is a double thickness of white canvas with a flexible cable stretched through it. Vertical tapes run down each side of the net, and vertical aerials project above its top.

Temperature

Competitive volley ball should not be played when the temperature is below 10°C.

The ball

The ball is made of supple leather casing with a bladder, or of rubber or a similar synthetic product. It must be all one colour. The circumference must be 65-67cm and the weight 260-280g.

Beach Volleyball

The height of the net for men is 2.43m and for women 2.24m.
The height of the net for KiwiVolley is 2m.
The dimensions of the Beach Volleyball
court is "a rectangle measuring 8m x 16m."
The game is play by two teams of two players on sand court divided by a net. There are two side lines and two end lines marking the playing court. These lines are placed inside the dimensions of the playing court. The ball is playing by hitting it with any part of the body.
