Arrows

They are generally of tubular aluminum alloy or carbon tube. The weight is usually less than1oz (28g).

Scoring

Generally occurs after 6 arrows at longer distances and after 3 arrows at shorter distances. Scores are determined by the position of the arrow shaft on the target face. An arrow touching two colours or a dividing line scores at the higher value. An arrow embedded in another arrow scores the same as that arrow. An arrow deflected from another arrow scores as it lies in the target.

The Bow

Any form of bow is allowed except the crossbow. There is no specified length for a bow.

The Field

Field

All competitors compete on one field. Men and women are separated by a clear lane at least 10m wide. Buttresses are numbered and pegged securely to the ground. There are one to three(usually two) targets in each lane. Lanes must be clearly marked. The points on the shooting line directly opposite each buttress must be marked and numbered accordingly. Archers shoot from a sequence of distances. Men shoot at : 90m, 70m, 50m, and 30m. Women shoot at : 70m, 60m, 50m, and 30m.

Target

Targets are made of straw ropes stitched together. Target faces are made of paper or other suitable material.

There are two standard circular FITA target faces of 122cm  and 80cm diameters. They are divided into ten concentric scoring zones of equal width: 6.1cm on the 122cm target face and 4cm on the 80cm target face. The targets are also divided into five concentric colour zones. The 80cm target face is used at 50m and 30m.
